As a key equipment for providing compressed air in industrial production, air compressors usually transmit maintenance signals through operating status, performance indicators, appearance, etc. before failure. Timely identification of these signs can avoid equipment shutdown or safety accidents. The following are typical signs that air compressors need maintenance:
1. Abnormal sound and vibration phenomena
For example, foreign objects entering the screw compressor will cause abnormal sound; the vibration amplitude of the fuselage exceeds 0.05mm (which can be measured by a vibration detector), which may be caused by the failure of the dynamic balance of the impeller or pulley (such as imbalance caused by dust accumulation), weak foundation support or aging of shock pads.
2. Significant decrease in compression performance and continuous decrease in pressure are one of the most obvious signs of needing maintenance. Insufficient exhaust pressure, the system pressure cannot reach the rated value and the pressure rises slowly; the pressure of the air tank rises slowly in the same period of time when the exhaust volume is reduced, or the equipment is frequently started and stopped when running under load.
3. Abnormal temperature and pressure
Exhaust temperature is too high, and the exhaust temperature exceeds the design limit. It may be caused by cooling system failure or insufficient lubricating oil; the pressure of the air tank fluctuates, or the safety valve frequently starts and stops, sensor failure and other reasons will cause abnormal pressure fluctuations.
4. Leakage and abnormal appearance
Lubricating oil leakage, oil stains appear on the compressor housing, shaft seal, and pipeline interface, and the oil level continues to drop; compressed air leakage, frost on the compressor suction port or the outer wall of the cylinder, or a large amount of condensed water at the air tank drain port.
5. Deterioration of lubricating oil status
Oil deterioration, blackening, emulsification or pungent odor of lubricating oil, abnormal oil level and other phenomena also indicate the need to check the lubricating oil status, filter function, replacement date, etc.
By paying attention to the above signs and implementing preventive maintenance, the life of the air compressor can be effectively extended and downtime losses can be reduced.
